About Charles Mote
I'm not in the business of making things look nice, but rather, of understanding a problem well enough to solve it visually.
My background is not a conventional design résumé: LAX air traffic controller, aviator, global aircraft accident investigator, and professional racing driver — work that demands precision, fast synthesis of complex technical information, and sound judgment under real pressure.
Combined with decades as a master-level Adobe Creative Cloud designer, deep technical fluency across myriad software and media platforms, and hands-on experience in branding, presentations, video, campaign development and production-ready design, I know how to get where you want to go.
Graphic designers are hired to make things. I am engaged to understand complex operational or technical subjects, identify the real problems, and communicate effective solutions visually at a professional level — research, synthesis, organization and technical accuracy included, as opposed to merely the artwork at the end.
I regularly perform advanced design work for the U.S. Department of Defense, federal, state and local government agencies, and technically demanding commercial clients — including the official F-16 pilot patch for the Republic of Singapore Air Force and unit crests for U.S. Army cavalry troops.
Colorado Graphic Design® is built around a small number of important, complex engagements at a time, not volume production.
“I have had the pleasure of working with Charles Mote for the last 10 years… Charles has the ability to take a concept and turn it into something that literally ‘pops’ off the computer screen. He has the innate ability to capture the energy of an organization and translate it into a design that truly delivers the brand.”
